Research Commons
Hui Koʻe ʻĀina governs Hawaiʻi's screened research commons — the path a university or community lab takes to de-silo its data into the moku provenance graph. Every contribution is version-controlled, reviewed, and resolved to the 33 traditional districts.

How a lab joins the commons
Five steps from registration to a dataset live on the moku graph.
Open a New Contributor issue with your organization, institution, and research focus. A community maintainer reviews and adds your slug to the registry. Once — then unlimited contributions.
CSV or GeoJSON plus a metadata.json declaring type (observation / indicator / spatial_overlay), topics, quality, license, and coverage. Coordinates auto-resolve to moku districts and H3 cells.
Fork, add contributions/{your-slug}/{dataset}/, and open a PR — no git install required, the GitHub website works. GitHub Actions validates against the shared schema automatically.
Maintainer review (screened)
A community maintainer checks methods and quality claims. verified and peer_reviewed are review outcomes, never defaults — anything unreviewed stays preliminary.
Merged contributions flow into the Mokunet provenance graph as ResearchRecord nodes with MEASURES_SDG edges, then surface here on the HKA portal — district-level variation, visible for the first time.
